Our History
The Jain Education Society (JES) was established in 1918 in Hubballi, Karnataka, with a visionary commitment to providing quality education rooted in strong ethical values. For over a century, the Society has been at the forefront of educational excellence in North Karnataka, nurturing generations of students who have gone on to become responsible citizens and accomplished professionals.
Under the aegis of JES, Shri P. J. Baddi English Medium School (SPJB) was founded in 2004 to meet the growing demand for high-quality English medium education in the region. Named in honour of the late Shri P. J. Baddi, a distinguished patron of education and community welfare, the school was envisioned as an institution that blends modern pedagogical practices with time-honoured values of discipline, integrity, and compassion.
Since its inception, SPJB has grown steadily from a modest beginning into one of the most respected schools in Hubballi. The school offers classes from Pre-Primary through Secondary level, and is affiliated to the Karnataka State Board. Over the past two decades, SPJB has consistently produced outstanding academic results while also emphasizing co-curricular activities, sports, and character development.
Today, SPJB stands as a testament to the enduring legacy of the Jain Education Society — a legacy built on the belief that education is the most powerful instrument for social transformation and individual growth.
Our Emblem
The emblem of the Jain Education Society carries deep symbolic meaning that reflects the core philosophy of our institution. At its centre is the lotus flower, an ancient symbol of purity, enlightenment, and self-upliftment. Just as the lotus rises from muddy waters to bloom in pristine beauty, our emblem represents the transformative power of education — the ability to rise above circumstances and realize one’s fullest potential.
The lotus also holds special significance in Jain tradition, symbolizing detachment from worldly impurities while remaining actively engaged in the world. This duality mirrors our educational approach: we encourage students to pursue academic excellence and worldly success while remaining grounded in ethical conduct and spiritual awareness.
Every element of the emblem — from the open petals representing the blossoming of knowledge, to the symmetrical design reflecting balance and harmony — reinforces the Society’s century-old commitment to nurturing well-rounded individuals who contribute meaningfully to society.
